Emerald Goddess: Actress Lupita Nyong'o at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony Premiere of "La Tete Haute", Cannes France
Out of all the Cannes 2015 Red Carpet DIVAS from last night's Opening Ceremony, one stood out as one of the Best Dressed of the night, at least in my eyes, and that is actress Lupita Nyong'o. Lupita looked INCREDIBLY gorgeous in an emerald green silk plisse gown from Gucci Premiere, the Couture arm of that Italian design house. The gown featured a plunging neckline, "capelet"/batwing-like sleeves, a satin waistband and full fan-pleated skirt section...
Twirl It Huney!--Lupita Nyong'o in Gucci Premiere gown, 68th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony "La Tout Haute" Premiere Cannes France
Lupita used the full sweep of her gown to no end, continuously twirling it the entire time she walked the red carpet and up those iconic Cannes Film Festival steps. This is a custom gown--made for her--so don't bother looking for it in any Gucci Look Book or Gucci boutique. At least for now.
It's also interesting that this style has NOTHING to do with what Gucci is putting out--especially from it's new Creative Director Alessandro Michele--in terms of the house's womenswear. It seems to be a trend with all the big fashion design firms that make styles especially for the red carpet and only for these top actresses, that have little or nothing to do with the brand or what their current collections look like (Hello Jennifer Aniston in Saint Laurent at the 2015 Golden Globes!). But oh well...Lupita did look STUNNING!
The Details: I especially loves all the hand-sewn flower-and-leaf sequined accents framing the neckline and waist of the gown. Oh and that bouffant was superFAB as well as the color of her lipstick: Go On Lupita! If there's a prize for Miss Fashion Cannes, you won!
