WHO WORE WHAT? 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards: Julia Roberts in Elie Saab Haute Couture

WHO WORE WHAT? 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards: Julia Roberts in Elie Saab Haute Couture

Julia Roberts in Elie Saab Haute Couture Fall 2014

The always stunning Julia Roberts DAZZLED at the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet in a cocktail dress from Elie Saab Haute Couture Fall 2014. I thought it was actually a nice change of pace seeing an actress in a short dress as opposed to a gown. Now, this isn't just any short dress, it's a $50,000+ costing Elie Saab Haute Couture one. Completely hand-sewn silk organza with hand-applied underlay of lace plus...thousands of hand-sewn sequins and oversized half-bubbled jewels:

I thought Julia looked great and it was smart to keep everything else--the hair, makeup, the peep-toe pumps--simple, clean and chic.Oh, and yes, Julia wore her best accessory: her SMILE! That's worth more than any Haute Couture creation!

WHO WORE WHAT?.....66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards: Kate Walsh in Stephane Rolland Couture

Kate Walsh in Stephane Rolland Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2014

Actress Kate Walsh wore a bright mustard yellow (bright colors was a big trend at the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet) gown from Parisian designer Stephane Rolland and his 2014 Spring/Summer Haute Couture collection. This was one of my favorite gown from this collection and therefore it was a treat to see it being worn on a major red carpet. The silk crepe gown features a high neck, drop shoulder cap "sleeves", an architectural peplum detail that cascades from front to back...

Sequined Gorgeous: The peplum cascade lining (and sides of the column skirt) are completely hand-beaded with thousands of paillettes and sequins. This gown is a work of art and took hundreds--if not thousands--of hours to create. After all it's Haute Couture. If I had any issue with Kate and the look, it was the styling; I wasn't a fan of her hair and I definitely don't think she needed the necklace. It should have been left just like it was shown on the runway:

Sans the necklace...Better. What do you guys think?

WHO WORE WHAT?.....66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards: Kerry Washington in Custom Prada

Kerry Washington in custom Prada

ABC "Scandal" actress Kerry Washington wore an orange sherbet colored strapless gown made custom for her by the Italian fashion house of Prada. The gown featured sequins sewn onto the bust darts and seams of the dress; it also had a high side-front slit and a peek-a-boo under skirt appliqued in crystals and sequins.

I liked the dress but I thought there were fit issues with the bustier/top section. It seemed to be collapsing and a bit askew...
What did you guys think? Yea or Nay?

WHO WORE WHAT?.....66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards: Allison Williams in Giambattista Valli Couture

Allison Williams in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Spring 2014

"Girls" actress--and daughter of NBC's Brian Williams--Allison Williams--wore a strapless (you guessed it!) BALL GOWN (a big 2014 Emmys Red Carpet Trend) from Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Spring 2014 collection. The gown has a very full silk gazar skirt with a canary yellow waistband and black and dusty rose sequined applique bustier section. This all-handmade gown--if a client would have ordered it--would  set you back about $80,000-$100,000. Allison is lucky to get it lent for free...as long as she mentions "GIAMBATTISTA VALLI" correctly on the red carpet :)

The gown is quite beautiful and has the air of a Paris Debutante. Très belle!

WHO WORE WHAT?.....66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards: Michelle Dockery in Rosie Assoulin

Michelle Dockery in Rosie Assoulin Fall 2014

"Downton Abbey" star Michelle Dockery wore a multi-colored gown in ivory, electric blue, dusty rose and green from designer Rosie Assoulin. This dress, which featured a cascade draped side/back detail is both modern yet classic at the same time and is from the designer's Debut Collection from Fall 2014.

In terms of the designer, Style.com says this: "Assoulin has quickly captured the industry's attention with her modern takes on occasionwear, which notably earned her a Swarovski CFDA Award nomination." I have to say that this is the first I've heard of Assoulin and this is quite a pr coup since this was her first ever collection.  I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more from her.
