WHO WORE WHAT?.....87th Annual Academy Awards: Lady Gaga in Custom Azzedine Alaïa

Lady Gaga in Custom Azzedine Alaïa--2015 Academy Awards

Lady Gaga made quite the entrance (and I think in a good way!) at the 2015 Academy Awards red carpet in a Custom Azzedine Alaia gown. This is the first time--that we know of--that an Azzedine Alaia gown has been worn on the red carpet at such a high profile event--or so Lady Gaga and other commentators have said. I'm sure, however, there have been many a French actress who have probably worn Alaia at Cannes or other events. We just don't know about it.

She accessorized the gown with red leather gloves, which I think was a great decision, especially standing out against the stark white sequined backdrop of the gown. Yes, the gloves are a bit Cra-Cra, but it's Lady Gaga after all!

I love this gown and I love Alaia...I've always been a fan of his designs and his non-conformist ways of showing his collections; he showed his Spring 2015 in Paris waaaay after the actual Paris Fashion week and after the buyers and editors had left the city. #GottaLuvHim.

Here are a couple of looks from his Spring 2015 collection. Notice the slightly jutting-out armholes on these designs--reminiscent of the exaggerated Lady Gaga version...

WHO WORE WHAT?.....2013 Grammy Awards: Rihanna in Azzedine Alaia

Rihanna wore a stunning Candy Apple Red Azzedine Alaia Silk Chiffon Dress to last night's Grammy Awards.

Although it was quite revealing, (Boy, they might want to re-think sending out a memo to these defiant ladies next year!) Rihanna looked soft and feminine in this custom gown. It was a departure from her usually body-hugging silhouettes she usually chooses and I liked it.

The back train was epic!

and I loved the lighter hair color and perfectly matching lip.

Good job Rihanna! One of the best dressed of the night for sure!
