WHAT: Balmain Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019. This is Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing's first outing at haute couture for the famed French fashion house after nearly nine years there.


INSPIRATION: Pearls were a central theme, as well as the sea, shells and coral. Rousteing was also inspired by Couture Grand Masters such as Yves Saint Laurent (isn't everyone??) and Pierre Balmain himself and his grand 1950's designs, showcasing ballgowns, fan-pleated suits, dresses.

WHAT: Balmain Spring/Summer 2018. Designer Olivier Rousteing showed his latest collection at Paris' Palais Garnier, a location dear to the designer's heart, since he first visited when he was ten (he's an "Old Soul" at 32, in terms of Fashion Years)...



INSPIRATION: Paris. France. Models. Naturally.

SEEN ON THE RUNWAY: It's BALMIAN...and it's Olivier Rousteing...so...UBER sexy/Body-con/Sequins/Model Dressing/Going-out-to-the-Club-wear. Lots of black and white; leather; jeweled crystals; fringe; volants/ruffles; logo t-shirts/sweatshirts; boucle suitings; fishnet dressing.

WHAT: Balmain Spring/Summer 2017. Oliver Rousteing sent out over 80 looks of the Balmain Body Con Sexy Goddesses he is known for, during this somewhat Tropical-Meets-Safari-esque collection. Lots of UBER high slits, under-boob (the new "side boob") exposing, banding dresses...even some Versace-like chain-mail at the end.
