Last night were the 2015 CFDA/Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards, held in New York City. Awards were handed out for Womenswear Designer of the Year (Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row), Menswear Designer of the Year (Tom Ford), Accessory Designer of the Year (Tabitha Simmons) as well as the Swarovski Awards for Womenswear (Rosie Assoulin), Menswear (Shayne Oliver for Hood by Air) and Accessory Design (Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel for Mansur Gavriel). As any awards show, there was a red carpet (well, it was white and red), and being that it was a FASHION-related awards show, there was, alas, some risk taking in terms of the looks seen. But there was also some Uh Oh Moments...Let's check out the Highlights and Lowlights:

Julianna Margulies in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Spring 2014
Actress Julianna Margulies wore an electric blue Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Spring 2014 gown at tonight's 2015 SAG awards red carpet. The silk satin hand-made gown featured a boat neck fitted top section, with a ballgown bottom half with "pick-up" drapes at the front. Interestingly enough, when the gown was originally shown on the Paris runway show, it was shown with a black sequined "tank" over the top of the gown.  Julianna chose to ditch the directional sequined tank.

I also liked the simple t-strap heels. Perfect.

Julianna Margulies in Andrew Gn Resort 2014:  Margulies wore a black gown with gold leaf-like trim detail from Andrew Gn Resort 2014. the gown features a full pleated skirt, side in-seam pockets, plunging neckline and drop shoulders.

It's classic, chic and on-trend with what we are seeing on the red carpet in terms of the fuller "mini ball gown" silhouette. I think it's a great choice, what do you guys think?

Emmys Red Carpet: Julianna Margulies looked like an Italian Contessa in this strapless floral printed brocade gown from Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Fall 2012. This gown--if one were to purchase it--would put you back about $40,000-$50,000 since it's Haute Couture and therefore Made-to-Order. Julianna got it for free. Lucky her! I think she looked regal and so elegant. Love the side pockets too! What do you guys think? Love the floral...or not so mucheey?

Julianna Margulies wore this Naeem Khan Spring 2012 Plum Bugle Beaded Gown with Open Back and Sleeves. At first glance, with it being so covered up in the front and severe chignon hairstyle, I wasn't quite sure if it was working for me. But as I reviewed more and more of the photos, it started to grow on me. There are some absolute SHOW STOPPING Dresses on the Red Carpet tonight! So this might get lost in the crowd, so to speak.

Julianna Margulies: I would have put money (about $20!) that Julianna would wear Narciso Rodriguez, but she did not, surprise surprise. This time she chose a dark navy-almost black "Tank Gown" by designer L'Wren Scott (yes, Mick Jagger's "main squeeze") from her Fall 2010 Collection. L'Wren Scott is famous for her skin-tight sheath dresses, following the silhouette of this gown. What I love about Julianna is that she sticks to here aesthetic. She is pure Americana--no tricks or "bells and whistles" just "sportswear"--and it works for her.
