WHAT: Chanel Resort 2017/2018. Karl Lagerfeld is known to present his Cruise collections for the house of Chanel in some fabulous far-flung destination. This time, he remained right at home. Lagerfeld presented his Chanel Cruise 2017/2018 inspired by Greece...not in Greece, but instead at the Grand Palais in Paris, where he re-created the temple of Poseidon (naturally!). Reportedly, he said he couldn't find a place in Greece he liked (I doubt that!). The collection--entitled "The Modernity of Antiquity"--channeled ancient Greece, a topic that was of specific fascination to Coco Chanel--she designed the costumes for Jean Cocteau's "Antigone" in the 1920's.
SEEN ON THE RUNWAY: Powder blues, delicate rose pinks; strappy gladiator sandals/heels, knotted ties; gold accents; "Grecian Goddess' sculptural dresses; drop-waist; blouson shapes; gathered details; oversized tops, coats; "Ancient Greece" prints; gold braided headdresses/crowns. Think Jackie Onassis in Skorpios. Relaxed and luxurious Resort Chic for a very, very rich woman.
WHAT: Moschino Menswear Fall/Winter 2017 and Moschino Womenswear Pre-Fall 2017. Moschino Creative Director/Designer Jeremy Scott continued with the trend of showing both men and women that is happening at Milan MENSWEAR Fashion Week. According to Vogue.com, Scott has been "exasperated" and "mad as hell" over the "global situation", and especially Trump. Therefore, this collection suggested "Doomsday"-like fashion...it reminded me of stylish Eastern European spies from East Berlin.

DSquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten always head North--specifically Canada, their homeland, whenever they do Fall/Winter. This time, they somewhat referenced the political situation in the US and Trump suggesting to the World, and the US fashionistas, that if they do want to move to Canada, dress like this!
TRENDS: Bundle Up kids! Oversized coats, parkas, cow hides, fringe, Beauty Pageant Crown knit caps...yes: Beauty Pageant Crowns! Cropped jeans; clunky combat/construction boots. For Women: Think Prairie Wives and their Instagramming daughters.
WHAT: Prada Menswear (and some Womenswear) Fall/Winter 2017. The show was co-ed, featuring womenswear designs as well from Prada Pre-Fall 2017, a trend with many of the so-called Menswear shows occurring on the international runways.
