Quick Sketch Artist--Nick Verreos draws a quick fashion sketch--Travel Channel China filming, The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM
In my last post HERE, I covered a Behind-the-Scenes view of special filming featuring our NIKOLAKI gowns that occurred at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM for a TV segment to be featured on the "Travel Channel China". The filming crew came to the campus to capture many aspects of what we do at FIDM, including fashion, sketching and draping classes. As part of the Travel Channel China filming, we invited a FIDM Graduate, Patrick Griley to show off innovative life-saving style...
The Avalanche Coat--FIDM Menswear Program Grad Patrick Griley of Aurora Outerwear and his innovative and lifechanging "Airbag Coat"--Griley designed and created this coat inspired by the inflatable lifejackets that big wave surfers use. With the pull of a cord, the bag inflates and floats you to the surface of the slide so the wearer doesn't get buried in the event of an avalanche. The bag is tucked into a pocket that is located on the back of the shoulders and is secured by a chest harness that is on the inside of the jacket, and the result is a blend of comfort and safety.
Here is the Avalanche Coat in action!
