NIKOLAKI.....Actress Brenda Strong Wears NIKOLAKI gown at SAG Awards

35
Desperate Housewive's Brenda Strong in Nick Verreos for the SAG Awards
It was such a pleasure to work with Brenda on this gown. Not only is she absolutely gorgeous (she is 6'4" in her heels!), but she is also kind and sweet. We had a great time creating this together.
It all came about when she saw the Nicky Hilton episode of Project Runway and thought what a great idea to collaborate on a custom gown. After a quick call between publicists we began our collaboration! She loved the dress I designed for Nicky and it was her idea to do a variation of that dress for the SAG Awards.
She wanted a color that really popped on camera and we decided on this beautiful shade of Amethyst. It went great with her natural coloring and made the blue color of her eyes absolutely breathtaking. How ironic that almost all of the "Housewives" wore shades of purple! It must have been in the air.
The fabric was a Silk Crepe Back Satin with Silk Velvet straps in a darker shade of Amethyst. She wore almost $100,000 worth of jewelry by Martin Katz! We chose a stunning and very modern bracelet made up of an amazing amount of diamonds set in platinum. Her earrings were 3'' diamond drops and we placed the most beautiful dragonfly brooch made of amethysts, rubies and diamonds in her hair.
When we slipped her in the gown she looked like a Goddess! It took my breath away.
The Gown will be donated to the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation -- a 501c3 organization that hosts charity auctions showcasing today's hottest celebrity attire. Items are put up for bid to the public with proceeds going to benefit children's charities. To bid go to: http://www.clothesoffourback.org/

My wife and I were watching the SAGs, looking for Ms. Strong's dress. As soon as we saw the back we both shouted in unison, "*That's* a Nick Verreos dress!"

Congrats!

Congrats Nick, the dress looks lovely on her!

I thought it was strange that almost all the "Housewives" wore purple as well, but I gotta say that when they were all up on stage, Brenda's color was the best;) She really popped up there amongst all the other purple gowns.

Beautiful work:)

Nick...the dress was stunning! And Brenda stood out the most amongst the "Housewives." And perfect positioning on her part to get right behind the microphone so the dress was truly showcased. Kudos to you for your excellent work...as usual!

"Other noted worshippers of the hottest hue of the season: Brenda Strong of "Desperate Housewives" in an edgy couture-meets-Golden Era Hollywood knockout made for her by "Project Runway"'s Nick Verreos. Strong may have been afflicted with the stomach flu, but her stunning, bias-cut dress in vibrant violet satin charmeuse was positively palliative. Accessorized with a Martin Katz brooch worn casually in her hair and Martin Katz baubles, hers was one of the most noteworthy outfits of the evening. We gather purple must be the Housewives' lucky color, because they all carted home statuettes for their collective win as the best ensemble in a comedy series."

Nick,

Congratulations on this debut of a truly stunning fantasy gown. As a 6' tall girl, I especially loved how you turned Brenda into a statuesque goddess with sleek, silky lines. (Not that she needs too much help with the transformation!)

Count me as one of your many admirers. I'm on pins and needles every Wednesday night wondering when the heck they are going to award you another weekly win. I thought your skating dress for Sasha Cohen was completely overlooked and totally rocked!

Here's wishing you continued success and glorious opportunities to SHOW YOUR STUFF out in the world where it belongs.

Nick, I love your designs. You're my top choice on PR. I would love to have you design a dress for me someday! As a former professional dancer who is now teaching and choreographing, I can truly appreciate the way your designs fit and work with the lines of the body, showing the wearer to best advantage. And they move beautifully too. I hope you go far. Keep up the exquisite work!
