I get what she's going for: She's doing that "thing" that all these former Disney girls do--pushing the "envelope" and being a little more edgy. When I look at the model on the runway, the black embroidered Gothic-Vampira edgy thing works. On Selena, however, it almost doesn't. Maybe it's the gold pumps, the almost-pageant-y up-do, and lest we forget: She's just so darn CUTE! A "Gothic dark" dress doesn't really belong on such a CUTE girl. What are your thoughts? Would love to know...

Completely agree with you. She does not fit that dress at all, for exactly the reason you stated.
Maybe if she had an edgier hairstyle and edgier shoes she would have looked "right".
I agree, this dress does her no justice. Young women that have the "Disney" appeal need to embrace who they are and transition without going through the "crazy" zone of rebelling against everything they are "believed" to be. I hope she learns that soon!
