Last week, I had the honor of being invited by the INCOMPARABLE Ilse Metchek, to give "The Road Ahead" speech to the 2019 California Fashion Foundation/CFF Scholarship Luncheon. The California Fashion Foundation is part of the California Fashion Association, offering scholarship support to students in the apparel and textile industries.

Many, many, many years ago, as a FIDM student, I was a recipient of what was then called the TALA--Textile Association of Los Angeles--Scholarship, which is what the CFF is now. Now, it was a very humbling experience to return as the FIDM Fashion Design Co-Chair, to give "The Road Ahead" speech, and give my Top Ten "Nick Threads of Advice" I have gathered in my almost 30 years in the business. As a bonus to be invited to give this speech, it was also wonderful to be there for our FIDM B.A. of Design student Valarie Chiu to be the recipient of an award.
