LEATHA Time! If there was one trend we could latch onto from last night's People's Choice Awards 2012 Red Carpet--other than the "anything goes" from Krazeee to Klassy-looking ensembles we saw, it would be LEATHER. Several ladies wore leather on the red carpet (it's been nippy at night here in LA as of late!). Here are examples: Kristen Bell in Valentino Spring 2012: The proverbial "leather and Lace" combination came up on Kristen Bell in the form of this very feminine red dress from Valentino Spring 2012, featuring a fitted lace and chiffon overlay top section and half-circle A-line shaped red leather attached skirt. I like the dress and those gold-creme heels. It's just the messed-up hair that troubles me. This is where non-fashion/non-hair expert people say "Someone actually got PAYED to do that hair style?"...and kids, I have to second that. Ashley Greene in DKNY: Greene stars in the new ad campaign so naturally, she is wearing DKNY. Again, it's (wait for it): leather and lace! Yes, kids. This time, it's a very form-fitting black dress with a flared skirt panel. It's very "Sexy Morticia"! And I'm happy that her hair looks flawless; clean, soft, and healthy. Maybe Kristen Bell should switch to Ashley Greene's hair stylist. Pronto. Elisha Cuthbert in Vawk: Vawk is a brand based out of Toronto, Canada and designed by Sunny Fong. Elisha is Canadian and therefore, it's nice she was wearing a fellow countryman's design. The gown features a gold leather/lace strapless bustier with a black silk chiffon full skirt. It's very "Wonder Woman" Linda Carter don't ya think? In other words: Me likey.

Miley Cyrus in David Koma Spring 2012: Designer David Koma is relatively new to "the scene" (his website is still "under construction"), yet he has recently been making a sartorial splash with his futuristic fitted-to-an-inch-of-their-lives looks. This dress on Miley is from his most recent collection which was based "minimalist sci-fi tribal". I think it is the best she has ever looked on the Red Carpet. The look on her is modern, up-to-the-minute, and showing women all over a new take on cocktail dressing. Love the hair swept to one side as well as the accessories. I also appreciate the original multicolored glass details in the dress as seen in the close-up photo above. Good job Miss Miley!

Ginnifer Goodwin in Roksanda Ilincic Spring 2012: Well, if the 2011 People's Choice Awards red carpet is any indication, I may believe the upcoming 2012 Awards Season Red Carpet, might be an "all over the place" free-for-all. As you've seen in my previous mini-postings--we had Vanessa Hudgens in a full-on sequined gown from Jenny Pachkam, Jennifer Lawrence in a royal blue/violet swirly applique-and-mesh Viktor & Rolf cocktail dress and now, it's Ginnifer Goodwin in a bubblegum gum pink below-the-knee length dress. The dress is by Roksanda Ilincic, the London-based designer made famous by Kate the Duchess of Cambridge. Ilincic must have gotten a very nice pr agency here in LA, because her dresses have been making the red carpet rounds more and more in the last few months and recently Rooney Mara also wore on of her designs. This dress on Ginnifer is very Ladies Who Lunch...but with a "Twist". A very Retro Bell-Sleeved Twist! It's "Mad Men" meets "Pan Am" meets some crown princess from (name any European country). I could TOTALLY see someone like Barbara Walters in this, but Ginnifer? Not so sure. I LOVE the color and give her (and her stylist) points for going in a different direction. What do you guys think?

Demi Lovato in Marchesa Resort 2012: Three words--You Go Girl! LOVE this peach silk chiffon draped gown with gold torso detail on Demi. The gown is from Marchesa--which you know is co-designed by Harvey Weinstein's main squeeze--and Project Runway All Stars Judge Georgina Chapman, as well as Keren Craig. The color is fantastic on her skin and the whole "Spartan/Grecian Goddess" vibe works. And--lest I forget--her SISTAHS look fabuloso! A bit too dressed up for the People's Choice Awards? Maybe. But on today's Red Carpet almost ANYTHING goes!

Jennifer Lawrence in Viktor and Rolf Spring 2012: First off, I am a big fan of Dutch designer duo Viktor & Rolf. And secondly, I always love seeing a dress on an actress that well, I would not normally instantly think "Oh THAT has got to be worn on the Red Carpet!" And here's an example--on actress Jennifer Lawrence at tonight's "People's Choice Awards". It's a royal blue duchess satin cut-out applique a-line shaped cocktail dress with black fishnet netting and nude lining underneath. It's very "Artsy" in its design and one might argue the decision to wear a dress that prominently features your "sisters" via mesh netting...other than that---this might work if you're hosting China Chow hosting Bravo's "Work of Art" reality show...or a red carpet premiere in Croatia. But at the People's Choice Awards? Uhhh, maybe not. What do you think?

Vanessa Hudgens in Jenny Packham Fall 2011: Oh Lordy! These girls are GIVING it to you!! Even at the "People's Choice Awards". It's not even the "Golden Globes" yet (this Sunday!) and it's all out and out sequined gowns!! Here we have Vanessa Hudgens serving GLAMOUR in this black beaded gown featuring a "spider web"-like sequin detail, front slit and fishtail train/hem. She looks good--both sexy, a little bit "Old Hollywood", and Vampy "Miss Puerto Rico"...all in one. I am definitely getting tire of the Ultra Stacked Pump (as I stated here). I think a sexy strappy heel would have worked much better. What do y'all think?

Jennifer Morrison in Oscar de la Renta Spring 2012: This little tasseled, laced and appliqued dress was from Oscar de la Renta's Spring 2012 Collection and well, A) I kinda like it, and yes, B) She looks as if she should be in a re-re-remake of "King Kong" or in the very least, be in some fabulous Kenyan Safari while she's wearing this! What do you guys think? Yeay or Not-so-Mucheyyyy???
