FLIGHT ATTENDANT COUTURE.....Going through the Decades of TWA Hostess Uniform Style at the TWA Hotel

Hostesswear--Nick Verreos at the TWA Hotel JFK Airport, at the TWA Hostess/Flight Attendant Exhibition of TWA Uniforms through the decades from top fashion designers--TWA Hotel, JFK Airport

This past Summer, we filmed this new Season 18 of "Project Runway" which is airing now on Bravo TV. We filmed the announcement of the first challenge at the iconic TWA Flight Center/JFK Terminal 5, which is now the super fab TWA Hotel. As a Consulting Producer for the show, I got great access to the location and naturally, as an avid fan of anything involving airlines and airplanes, I was like a kid in a candy store!

Flight Attendant Chic--TWA Flight Attendant styles through the decades from Oleg Cassini, Valentino, TWA Hotel JFK Airport

I was EXTRA happy to see a very special Exhibition at the TWA Hotel showing all the different TWA Flight Attendant Couture through the years...or as they titled it "TWA Hostess Uniforms". Check out all the chic and oh-so-fabulous TWA uniforms designed from the likes of Don Loper, Oleg Cassini, Pierre Balmain, and Valentino. And while you look at these, just think back to those days when flight attendants actually looked quite chic.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....OSCARS 2019: Gemma Chan in Valentino Haute Couture

Gemma Chan in Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019

My (probably) "Best Dressed" is Gemma Chan in this bubblegum pink/fuchsia colored gown from Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019 collection by Pierpaolo Piccioli. This was a FASHION MOMENT!!! I loved the shape, the volume, the sleeves, the hand-sewn gathering, the color....she dropped the RED CARPET mic with this look! Bravissima!

RUNWAY REPORT.....Paris Fashion Week: Valentino Fall 2018

 Valentino Fall 2018

WHAT: Valentino Fall 20918 Ready-to-Wear. Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli is continuing his winning streak when it comes to putting out one GORGEOUS collection after another. This latest Fall/winter 2018 was no exception.

INSPIRATION: Romanticism. Botanical Gardens. And LOTS of archival Valentino and Jackie O references for sure.

Scarved Style: Valentino Fall 2018 and Jackie Kennedy Onassis (wearing an Hermes scarf)

Vintage Valentino Flower Couture--Anjelica Huston in Valentino, 1972

Bag Fab--Valentino Fall/Winter 2018

And, of course we know that one of the main objectives and money-makers of these historic brands is to sell accessories. Piccioli gave the Valentino woman plenty to choose from including some gorgeous bags in many shapes and sizes ready to be swooned over in boutiques across the world.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....2018 SAG Awards Red Carpet: Kate Hudson in Valentino

Heart-Printed Kate--Kate Hudson in Valentino Pre-Fall 2018 at the 2018 SAG Awards Red Carpet

Kate Hudson in Valentino Pre-Fall 2018--Kate Hudson wore this pink heart-printed ruffled gown from Valentino Pre-Fall 2018 collection and its Creative Director, Pierpaolo Piccioli. This choice of a dress has given Twitter lots to talk about since by the looks of it, lots of people are not fans. I'm kind of "on the fence" with this. While I do love the fun and flirty style and very Valentino romantic look, I guess I can (kind of) understand people's "I'm not sure" feelings. But...overall, I actually like the dress--especially the high-neck style which goes well with her pixie hairstyle. Any time an actress wears a print on the red carpet, it can be tricky, but I give Kate props for taking a chance and being "different". Honestly, I am so sick of SAFE and BORING that I applaud her for choosing this gown.

Goldie and Kate: I'm also loving Goldie Hawn's aqua blue one shoulder gown.

What do you guys think? Are you a fan of Kate's heart-printed gown or....are you one of those "Twitter Gown Haters"? And why?

Even though the 11th Annual Art of Television Costume Design Exhibition closed earlier this month, if you are a FASHION COUTURE ENTHUSIAST, you still have plenty of time to swing by the FIDM Museum in Downtown Los Angeles to enjoy the beautiful "Fashion Philanthropy: The Linda and Steven Plochocki Collection".

The Linda and Steven Plochocki Collection Exhibition FIDM Museum, Downtown Los                                                                                     Angeles

The Exhibition showcases collected, purchased and donated items--both garments and accessories--from the Plochocki's collection, and explores Linda's fascination with all things floral and embroidered. In addition to 19th and 20th century pieces, the show also highlights contemporary designs by Prada, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, and Raf Simons for Christian Dior. FIDM Museum Creative Director Peter Lam's hand-crafted paper flowers adorn the walls and accentuate the blush and grey color scheme.
