Sartorial Priestesses--Design from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" Exhibition, NYC
Several weeks ago, my partner David Paul and I flew to NYC to represent the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM in our roles as FIDM Fashion Design Co-Chairs to support our FIDM Designer in the 2018 SUPIMA Design Competition at NY Fashion Week...

After doing our duties, we chose to use our limited "have fun in NY" time and check out the "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" Exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art NYC. The Costume Institute’s spring 2018 exhibition is on view until October 8, 2018 so we had to check it out!

The gorgeous exhibition is at The Met Fifth Avenue—in the medieval galleries, Mary and Michael Jaharis Galleries for Byzantine Art, part of The Robert Lehman Wing, and the Anna Wintour Costume Center—and uptown at The Met Cloisters. The thematic exhibition features a dialogue between fashion and masterworks of medieval art in The Met collection to examine fashion’s ongoing engagement with the devotional practices and traditions of Catholicism, juxtaposing the museum's religious masterpieces with ensembles from more than 50 designers, including Gianni Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Rodarte, Yves Saint Laurent, Cristobal Balenciaga, John Galliano for Christian Dior Couture and many more.
