Uncle Nick and Casia So many people have asked about my Niece and how she has responded to the My Scene Barbie episode. Well, as you can imagine, she has been absolutely thrilled about the whole thing and is a celebrity in her 1st grade class! Just over Christmas vacation, I got to take a little bit of time off, and visited my niece, and just to see her face light up when she received me at the airport made me feel like I could just go straight to Heaven now!!! All she kept saying was "I know what's in THAT suitcase...." Unfortunately I didn't actually have the produced Barbie yet, so I had to tell her, sadly , that she would be getting it soon enough. She was a good sport about the whole thing and eagerly awaits the Barbie custom-designed just for her! She is turning in to quite the young designer herself. She's already drawing her own fashion sketches. One design she sent me in the mail is 5 feet tall!! Atta Girl!!

Wow Nick! Am I the first to comment on your blog? Casia is precious. I HOPE we'll be meeting her at Fashion Week. Now, get back to sewing!

Aw, your niece is adorable. You seem like a very dedicated uncle. Your designs so far on PR have been incredible and you were robbed in the muslin challenge and the Nicki Hilton challenge. Good luck on all your future endeavors.

Hi, Nick! My 4-year-old wanted me to comment...so here it is. We LOVE your designs! I'd have to say that the muslin outfit was my favorite so far this season out of everything. Of course, I'm a sucker for orange. Very few people can wear it sucessfully and your model looked radiant! I hope to see you at fashion week!

Casia is beautiful - love you on Project Runway, I will be buying the Barbie when it comes out! I hope you are in final three if not the winner!

That's the sweetest picture I have ever seen :)

Casia has a right to be thrilled, you are a brilliant designer. Everything on PR has been stunning and the line from Smashbox Fashion Week is fabulous!

Congrats on the Barbie design and on the show...can't wait to see what else is in store!

Cute kid, cute uncle!

I agree with everything everyone has said - I'm always excited to watch PR and see what you've come up with each week. Beautiful, interesting, well-done work. Yay! We're pulling for you, Nick!

I have to tell you out of all the designers on the show you, Emmett and Chloe are on my list of the three to make it to fashion week. I really think that Santino should have been out instead of Daniel Franco on the fourth episode. I mean his vision was so not sexy so not wearable. I am however glad that you have been in or a winner for the duration. You rock 100%. You and the others listed are the talent on this season, in a weird way you remind me of Austin. He got robbed by Wendy, I hope that you aren't robbed by Santino or anyone else for the top three that you so rightfully deserve. On another note when exactly is the My Scene Barbie coming out? I am so going to buy like 5 of them.

athena, the Barbie is available on the Project Runway official website and I think it ships out in Feb. sometime. You can pre-order them. They're a bargain at $25. This isn't Nick but I'm not sure he does Q & A (I wish!) so I hope you won't mind my answering you.

I just wanted you to be able to go and order those Barbies before they're gone (limited edition, I think)!

nick, i just have to say how great that challenge was and you completely stood out.

i had to work on the original myscene website years ago, and hilariously enough, did the fashion watercolors for Chelsea, the hot fashion designer wannabe of those dolls. you would hate her designs. haha.

good luck and we are all rooting for you. class act all the way!

Gah, I feel stupid commenting here because I don't know you or anything. But little kids are cute, and she is the cutest ever. Her pictures should be on cuteoverload.com!

Uncle Nick,
I didn't think I would be a huge PR fan. That is until I saw you and Daniel V. Love ya'll. I know ya'll will be in the final three. Good Luck!

Your niece is such a cutie!
Isn't it great being the hero in the family thanks to your Barbie challenge!

Working for Lucasfilm, I tend to be the fun Auntie Mame of the family with my nephews all thinking I work for Darth Vader. It didn't help when I had my coworker do a Wookiee growl on the phone for them.

Anyway, I love your stuff on the show and look forward to seeing more from you! ;-)

Great story, and it is amazing that your niece has such a creative uncle to teach and guide her. also, it is great that someone so close to you get to enjoy the 'fruits of you labor' from the Barbie challenge. I bet it will be amazing to see her playing with it and telling everyone my uncle made this Barbie's outfit.

um, that is about the most adorable thing I have ever seen.

hun, you got robbed tonight, many people are saying that they refuse to watch the show any longer, don't believe me? check out Bravo's site.... My roomates and I think that Hedi needs to calm her hormones down or not judge until the baby is born...on a lighter note, we can't wait until I get your doll!!!

Nick - You (and your family) should be so proud of all you showed on PR. Though cut, you were honorable in your work, and didn't outright LIE the way Santino did. You made us laugh with your ethnic comments (chicle'), and you reminded us of our favorite uncles, too! Would love to see more of your work - - success is just around the corner for you.

HI NICK!

I'M ABSOLUTELY FOND OF YOUR PERSONAL STYLE AND FASHION DESIGN SKILL SET... I'M A FAN OF THE PROJECT RUNWAY TV SHOW - AND WATCHED THE SECOND SEASON OF PROJECT RUNWAY RELIGIOUSLY HOPING WITH YOU AS MY #1 FAVORITE SINCE DAY ONE. AFTER WINNING THE BARBIE MISSION - I KNEW AND FELT YOU WERE IN THE TOP THREE OR THE WINNER OF THE WHOLE THING. I WAS DEEPLY SAD SEEING THAT THIS DIDN'T FLESH OUT ON THE SHOW - BUT I FEEL THAT MORE SUCCESS WILL COME IN THE BIGGER PICTURE... YOU HAVE COMMITMENT AND A BEAUTIFUL HEART.

GOETHE SAID: (AND BARBARA STREISAND HAS QUOTED ON THE ACTORS STUDIO) "At the point of committment the Universe conspires to assit you."

As a Mattel doll collector/restorer, I missed the quality and attention to detail that Mattel used in the 1960s doll clothing. I can honestly and professionally say that your Project Runway Barbie is THE BEST MADE doll they have made in 40 years. This is the first "new" Barbie I have ever purchased and the second one I have ever owned (The first being the one I got for my 7th birthday). How short sighted those folks were at Mattel to produce so few and sell them for so low. Today, just 6 short weeks after the $30 doll was delivered to my home, they are selling for $200 on eBay.

I would LOVE to have the ability to purchase other miniature Project Runway fashons for a doll. I'm to short and too old to wear the stuff you design, but I would love to have a miniature version of your Nicky Hilton challenge dress, and I like the idea of re-creating the models and the challenges. I can guarantee different outcomes!
