RUNWAY REPORT.....Milano Uomo Fashion Week: DSquared2 Fall/Winter 2014

Designers Dean and Dan Caten of DSquared2, at their Finale look from DSquared2 Fall 2014 collection--Fall 2014 Milano Uomo Fashion Week

The Look: Prison Chic; the show started with a model tied up in a straitjacket and being dragged off by two burly orderlies to the sound of a siren. And the soundtrack included Nurse Ratched from “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” The lights went on to reveal a cell block filled with DSquared2 “inmates” perhaps doing time for fashion crimes. The first model out wore an orange bomber jacket with “Caten Penitentiary” emblazoned across the back.

Colors: Pumpkin orange, black, mocha brown, gray

Trends: Bomber jackets; stone/acid washed jeans/denim; eyewear; knit ski caps; cropped "high-water" trousers; cuffed jeans; big travel duffel bags

Bunga Bunga Man of the Hour: Versace Menswear Fall/Winter 2013-2014

The Look: 80's Versace Boys, Madonna Backup Dancer Vibe, full-length "Pimp" fur coats, oversized plaid suits...not sure of WHO in their right mind would wear this, or WHAT Donatella had in mind for this and as a strategy for her Menswear business but...if I can't even see a Russian arms dealer wearing this at a secret party in Azerbaijan or a Berlusconi bunga-bunga Party...I don't really know where any man would wear these ensembles. But it did look like a fabulously visual show. I'm sure when it hits the Versace boutiques, the clothes will be slightly toned down...slightly. I still hope those lace and stretch mesh onesies will be there--just for fun!

Euro Prepster Meets Mykonos Pool Boys Meets Finnish Fishermen...Welcome to Dsquared2 Menswear Collection Spring 2012
The EuroBoy Express: Dsquared2 Menswear Spring 2012 Collection
The Milan Menswear Spring 2012 (yeah, that's NEXT YEAR!) Collections are happening right now--and so it is my duty to give my readers some of the Beefcake-y, HOT, OMG Look At His Six-Pack...Ooops, I mean, respectable Fashion Insider Two Cents on the highlights of this current season. Up first, the Dsquared2 Collection from those kooky Canadian twins, Dean and Dan Caten.
Would Like Cucumber Water: Dsquared2 Menswear Spring 2012 Collection
Now, usually, I try and stay "professional" and not be that person--when reviewing a collection--and say the dreaded "Oh I TOTALLY would wear that..." or "Oh that's soooo UGLY, I would NEVER wear that!" as we all know that's NOT THE POINT. Designers are not really showing that for YOU and YOU may not be their "market" and so on and so forth. But...I TOTALLY would wear A LOT of this Spring 2012 Collection!!!! Totally.
Thank Goodness Mommy and Daddy Left Me Some Money: Dsquared2 Menswear Spring 2012 Collection
From the moment I first saw the runway images, I pressed PRINT on my Computer Printer and now, they are on my wall as my "inspiration" for all the various "looks" I will be (trying) to give on my upcoming trip to Europe! Especially the three looks above. Even David Paul, my NIKOLAKI partner-in-crime said "Oh Dear Nick, that is SOOOO YOU!" Now, yes, A) I wish I was 6' 3" , and B) had a size 28" waist like these 19-year-old models but alas, I am not. I will, however, still somehow try and use these as a "jumping off" inspiration point. Love the cropped brightly colored pants. I would wear them. The leather sandals. Check. The Riding shoes with fuchsia pants and double-breasted jacket look. Check.
LOVE!!!
However...you probably would NEVER catch me wearing this little ensemble:
Welcome to Santorini: Dsquared2 Menswear Spring 2012 Collection: One Question--Will I get six pack abs if I purchase these???
The boys from Dsquared2 showed their typical hot-and-sexy looks for Spring 2012, adding lots of color, some "Euro Trust Fund-er" looks as well as playing with their "Is He a Gay Mountain Climber? Or Isn't He?" leitmotif. This time around, that section was covered by Finnish-looking sons of fishermen ready to catch some fish, drink some vodka and then have a good time later...with whomever is within 5 feet of them. Whomever...
Fish and Vodka: Dsquared2 Menswear Spring 2012 Collection
Tim Blanks, of Style.com, summed up the collection this way in the introduction of his Review of the collection: Dean and Dan Caten are twenty-first-century vaudevillians, incapable of presenting a new collection without couching it in a saucy variety show. Today's revolving stage coughed up some sexy Scandinavian fisherman, a buffet of Mykonos beefcake, a couple of lower-the-temperature Roman ragazzi, a handful of droogy rockers, and Kazaky, four dizzy queens from the Ukraine whose post-Gaga get-outta-my-way-bitch shtick involved a gravity-defying dance routine performed in skintight leather pants and sky-high heels. Phew! Oh, there were some clothes shown, too. Click Below for the Videos of the Dsquared2 Menswear Spring 2012 Collection:

Cowboys, Hot Camp Counselors, Italian Gigolos and Ripped Bleached Jeans... It's Menswear Fashion Week!!!!
DSquared2:For Spring 2010, the Dsquared2 twins came up with a rompy "Camp" theme--not the kind of camping you used to do with your family however. This is "Going Camping" on another level! Lots of skin, lots of hot Fantasy Boy Scouts, and the sexiest Camp Counselors I've ever seen--My camp counselors at the Summer Camps I went to NEVER looked like this! Come to think of it, I never even went to a Summer Camp!If they did, I would have gone more often! Lots of shorts, boxers showing from under the shorts, torn-and-worn jeans, Wellies and Hiking Boots, and those ubiquitous Trucker Caps. When someone like Ed Hardy does Trucker caps, they look DOUCHEY, somehow, the Dsquared trucker caps still look HOT! DSquared Spring/Summer 2010 Video (Highlights): D & G:
For their lower "Contemporary" line, D & G, the Dolce & Gabbana boys were in a Western mood for Spring/Summer 2010. Sexy, slim cowboys, Western shirts fitted to a 1/4" of their fat-free male model bodies, cowboy boots worn inside out. This is the sexy Italian version of "Brokeback Mountain". And again, it's all about those torn/ripped and bleached-splashed jeans. I feel like I am back in 1984---and I kinda like it! D&G Menswear Spring/Summer 2010 Runway Video: Dolce and Gabbana:For their luxe high-end namesake line, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, continued on what they know how to do: Dress an Italian Gigolo. For Spring 2010, the silhouette was lean and mean (not a surprise). Elongated blazers (a departure from the current trend of cropped ones) are de rigueur for Dolce & Gabbana. But what the designers did show cropped were the pants. Gentlemen, you will be rolling and pegging your pants come next Spring/Summer. No socks and gorgeous Italian loafers. Yeah, it's Band-Aid time for the back of your feet kids! The show starred Madonna's latest boy toy, Brazilian model Jesus Luz--who was the second "exit" in the show-- wearing black "hot shorts" and a very open black shirt. Bless his heart, he can't walk the runway to save his life (he's rather bowl-legged, see video below), but huney, he looked HOT! Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010 Runway Video:

RUNWAY REPORT.....Milan Menswear Fashion Week: DSquared2, Gucci F/W 2009

Menswear Runway Fashion Shows: Milan The Twins taking their DSquared bow, in their white dinner jackets and high-heeled boots DSquared2: The twins at DSquared designed another romp of a collection featuring their hot sexy and very pumped up boys. Lots of vests, bow ties and shrunken shearling jackets. Since it's a Fall/Winter Collection, there wasn't ONE half-naked model down the runway, which, if you follow DSquared fashion shows, is usually a VERY COMMON sight!
DSquared2: Shrunken Shearling
DSquared2: Don't throw your vests out of your closet just yet
Gucci: Think 1960s rock band musician meets glam rock punk trust-fund baby. Tight, skinny and very shrunken (Is SHRUNKEN the theme of choice for Menswear 2009/10?) Skinny ties, lurex shrunken suits and lots of tight skinny pants. It looked fabulous on the 18 year old Manorexic male models but I wonder how those looks will look on the 50 year old men who will actually be able to afford a $800 pair of pants or an $6,000 suit. This collection has Mick Jagger written all over it!
Gucci: Shrunken cardigan, skinny tie and skinny pants
Gucci: Shrunken suits
