The Miss Universe National Costume Show occurred on Wednesday night during the 63rd Annual Miss Universe Preliminary Competition. This is always one of the most exciting events of the Miss Universe since it's all about "QUEENING OUT!"--costume-wise. It also gets the audience going since it's the one time the contestants from all over the world are representing their countries, cultures and showing their "pride", via what some would argue outlandish, over-the-top and sometimes Tacky-licious costumes. National costumes are intended to reflect their countries and cultures. Sometimes the results are, shall we say, eye popping! And this year at the Miss Universe, was no exception. I have put together my Top 15 Favorites from all the 88 contestants. These were the ones that really got me saying "You Go Girl!"...

It's Miss Universe Evening Gown Time again!!! The Miss Universe 2014 beauty pageant is happening right now in Doral Florida. 88 contestants from all over the world are competing for the coveted crown. The Finals will be televised on NBC on January 25th. The Evening Gown Portraits were just published on the MissUniverse.com website which means...time to discuss the gowns!

From seeing the photos--and gowns--it's an obvious mix of contestants who borrowed some of those Sherri Hill (a sponsor of "Miss Universe") dresses from the Miss Universe Wardrobe Department and contestants who wore what they brought. Also, as any seasoned pageant-watcher knows, these gowns don't necessarily reflect what the contestants will wear for the all-important preliminaries and/or the Finals. Nevertheless, let's Talk Gowns--Here were some of my Favorites and don't worry, following this, I'll be doing the "Uh Oh!" List...

This past Thursday, a new Venezuelan beauty was crowned: 5' 10" (1.78 M) tall Migbelis Castellanos became Miss Venezuela 2013 at a star-studded event at the Poliedro de Caracas, which was televised live on Thursday night on Venevision and later (this past Saturday) on Univision. The four-hour competition show highlighted a wonderful tribute to Joaquin Rivera, who produced many a "Miss Venezuela" pageant and passed away back in April, as well as top Venezuelan musical talents.
