Cameron Diaz in Gucci Premiere: Gucci Premiere, in case you were wondering, is the "Haute Couture" from the Italian House of Gucci. They don't normally do Custom or Haute Couture but if you're an A-List starlet--or Cameron Diaz...no problem! I have to admit that I was not so excited with this gown. It just did not have enough of that Oscars Impact that it should have had. I would have LOVED to have seen her in a Dior Haute Couture Ball Gown from Bill Gaytten's Spring 2012 Collection--so for me, this strapless silk crepe fit-and-flare gown was a bit of a Miss. What do you guys think?

Non-Teens at the Teen Choice 2011 Fergie in Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011: Miss Fergie. She loves a mini! So much so, they had the original below-the-knee Dolce & Gabbana dress chopped. It's A LOT of look on her. Even for Miss Fergie. I get it that she loves to be bold, brash and make "Boom Boom Pow" statements (did I just really type that??) but well...I think where I have the most problem is THOSE ROOTS!!! We know she can afford a touch-up. Or just have your assistant go to CVS and buy you some Clairol Nice 'N Easy. Tyra Banks: OK, Miss Tyra, you are giving a "Miss Wonder Woman/Super Hero" moment in this yellow-and-black zip-front leather jumpsuit, even down to the BIG OL' gold cuff! She can knock off several TEENS with that bracelet of hers! Yes, it's all a bit of a mess, but hey, it's Miss Tyra! I do like her hair and that oh-so-innocent look on her face. She does have that SMIZE down to a science! A few of the more "mature" ladies that got it right: Cameron Diaz in a Strapless Mini Dress by A.L.C. : Soooo CUTE Cameron! Well done! Perfect little strapless mini dress. Clean, very "California Gal" hair and make-up. She looks as if she just spent 4 hours on a surfboard and well, she all of a sudden had to go to a big Red Carpet event! I especially LUV the heels:
Zoe Saldana in Lanvin Resort 2012: Looks like Zoe was trying to mimic the same pose that the model did on the right in the Lanvin Resort 2012 Look Book with this metallic strapless ruffled and pleated dress. I like that the actual dress is more of a "Baby Doll" lose shape and yet, Zoe belted it to define her INCREDIBLY teeny tiny waist. The gold stacked heels are FAB as well. Emma Stone in Christian Dior Resort 2012: Actress Emma Stone surprised even me with this rather "directional" choice of a dress. It's not pretty by definition but more "fashion'y" and yes, me likey! The drop waist, color-blocking and shapeless tunic-1920's shape are all very BIG for next Spring so...You Go Miss Emma!

BACKLESS + Beaded = GORG! Recently, lots of actresses, models, your "Usual Red Carpet Subjects" have been GIVING Backless and/or Full-on Beaded on the Red Carpet--here are some examples--including one from my own NIKOLAKI Spring 2011 Collection... Sequined Hilary: Hilary Swank in Elie Saab Spring 2011 Couture at the 2011 International Indian Film Academy Awards in Toronto Canada over the weekend. Why Toronto for the International Indian Film Academy Awards, you might ask? Well, kiddies, according to this, the Greater Toronto area has the second largest population of people of Indian descent in NORTH AMERICA!!!! Yep! Moving on...Miss Swank is wearing an absolutely stunning gown from the Lebanese designer's Haute Couture Collection--which means that EVERY single one of those beads was applied BY HAND and so were the seams that were sewn. NO machines darlings. That's why this gown would probably cost around $100,000 if you were to order it. It's a good guess Miss Hilary got it for free--lent that is... Silver Goddess: Victoria's Secret Model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Naeem Khan at the Germany Premiere of Transformers 3. Naeem has been in the news as of late because the US First Lady, Michelle Obama just LOVES wearing his designs. He is an American Fashion Designer of Indian origin who has a very good business creating evening gowns. Love the cap sleeves, love the back train, well done! It's both chic, and UBER glamorous. I also adore that side-knot-twisted hairstyle. Spanish actress Paz Vega at the Shanghai Film Festival in an all-over sequined backless gown featuring long fitted sleeves and (gasp!) shoulder pads! (yes, ladies, they are back...and have been for a while!). Interesting that when I looked at the photo on the right--doesn't it look as if the back of her gown just came undone? Or it's about to. Or maybe, it was hooked way beyond the edge of the back closure....who knows. (sorry too much "Fashion Terminology"). I still LIKE it. Fits her well, the oversized paillettes are great, good job Paz. She Loves a Mini: Cameron Diaz in Emilio Pucci Fall 2011 at the Moscow Premiere of Bad Teacher. All over sequins in gold and black work well with Cameron Diaz. And she loves a mini--16-18" below her natural waist seems to be her favorite hem length. I do like that the rest of her is covered--the three-quarter sleeves the bateau neckline. Finally...there's model Amanda Fields in NIKOLAKI Spring 2011: My NIKOLAKI Co-Designer David Paul and I just love this gown and because it fits this blog's "Category", of course, we had to add it!!! No one has worn it yet and many, many actresses and stylists have "pulled this dress" but no one has used it yet--maybe there's still time for a FAB Red Carpet Moment for this gown...

More Vanity Fair Fashion: The Divas, the Lace/See-Through No-No's, and Miss Rita Wilson, my New Fashion Best Girlfriend! Lets start with the Divas! Diva No. 1 Socialite Lynn Wyatt--One word: WOW! Class Epitomized. The creme white silk crepe column gown with long sleeves, the mint-green shawl, the clutch, the STATEMENT Necklace!!!! You know, when all the fashion insiders say "It's All About A Statement Necklace", Mrs. Wyatt SHOWS THEM huney what a REAL Statement necklace needs to look like!!! And here's a shocker of all shockers (not really): I bet you A LOT of money that she DOES NOT even have a STYLIST! It's all HER...They don't make Ladies like they use to. Diva No. 2 Carolina Herrera, wearing her own design naturally. White silk duchess one shoulder gown with side pockets and black bow accent. Simply Stunning! This Venezuelan-born Diva also can teach an actress or two how to really dress. It helps that A) She's a Designer, and B) She literally GREW up watching her mother have private fittings in Paris with Couturiers such as Cristobal Balenciaga and Christian Dior back in the 1950's. Finally, I especially love that she posed with her hand in the pocket. This is NOT the "First Time at the Red Carpet Rodeo" for Mrs. Herrera. Diva No. 3 Joan Collins: Joan Collins can do no wrong in my book! Is it a bit "kooky"? Yes, but does she still OWN it and WORK it? TOTALLY!!! She was On-Trend with the lilac color in the embroidered rosette details and the gown fits her well (great open neckline for her!). The perfect earrings and perfect clutch finish the look. She is OLD SCHOOL Hollywood and I love it! And Now to Some Lace/See Through No-No Divas: See Through No-No Number 1--Madonna: Now, I KNOW it was COLD last night! About 50 Degrees in fact. So why oh why would Madonna wear a see-through lace dress with the HIGHEST of slits over a corset and under-panty. And she throws a fur mini "chubby" as if that's going to help. I'm sure this was all Dolce & Gabbana, but I may be wrong (it sure looks it!). I know it's Madonna and she can basically can do whatever she wants. But why am I still perplexed by this? She does have THE BODY of Death, but...sometimes, covered up is actually SEXIER. See-Though No-No Number 2: Naomi Watts--What, in the name of the Fashion Gods, is this? Why is their a nude-colored piece in her stomach/upper chest? And are those off-white feathers in the back? I just don't even get it. See Though No-No Number Trois: Jessica Szhor in a Leather, see-though, sequined midriff, nude mini. Really? Those four things NEVER enter my Fashion Vocabulary TOGETHER!!! Do these women have full-length mirrors? Or have they forgotten to pay their electric bills so they can't see themselves before leaving the house? And if so, then WHO is lying to them? Seriously WHO??? THIS...Is How You Do Lace & Nude Ladies: Take Note (Ladies Above): Camila Alves got it right! Here she is with her sexy husband, Matthew McConaughey in this black lace over nude gown and looking elegant, sexy and GORGEOUS! I also love that she did an "outfit change" (of course she did) from her Academy Awards Red Carpet Kaufman Franco black ball gown (which I LOVED!!!). Printed Gals: Cameron Diaz: Love me some Cameron Diaz. Love. But not so much in this very mini Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2011 one-shoulder ruffled neckline cocktail dress. The original sample is actually knee-length and maybe it should have stayed that way. Or just made it about 2 inches longer. That's all it needed to be. With her mile-long legs, the mini...was, well, too mini unfortunately. Ladies Don't Try This Look At Home: Rita Wilson--The multi-printed satin dress, the feathered (!) purse, the necklace, the bracelet, the strappy heels, the heavy-banged Bouffant 'do: Oh Miss Rita! It's "Valley of The Dolls", the Vanity Fair Oscars Party Version. It's a mess, but here's a surprise: To me, it's a GOOD MESS. Why, you may ask? Anybody who attempts this outfit at a party MUST be a HOOT!!!! If I spotted a woman at a party (at the Open Bar, I am sure!) dressed like this, she would be the first person I would talk to! You just KNOW someone who has enough chutzpah to do this, must be fun!

The show--which celebrates the style-through-the-years of powerful, beautiful Hollywood It-Girls--will run through this entire season with each Saturday night debuting two new "Fashion Girls".

Cameron Diaz in Oscar De La Renta Fall 2010 For Cameron Diaz, this Oscar De La Renta Gown from his Fall 2010 Collection could almost be considered a safe choice. She usually goes for styles that are a bit edgier and more directional, but there is absolutely no denying that Cameron looked absolutely amazing in this gown. The hair was a bit more "styled" than it usually is and along with her beautiful make up it was the perfect accent to this truly glamorous dress.
